New Casa Director
January 21, 2008
TO: Friends of the Casa
FROM: Executive Council of the Casa de
los Amigos, A.C.
Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!
We are very happy to inform you of the
selection by the Executive Council of a new Executive Director of the Casa de
los Amigos A.C.
Roberto García Ramírez, long-time friend
of the Casa, former director of Service, Development, and Peace (SEDEPAC), and
recent member of the Casa’s Board, will begin service as Director of the Casa
this month, January 2008.
Roberto brings more than 15 years of
service with Mexican civil society organizations and experience in
organizational management and direction, program development, coordination and
supervision of staff and volunteers, strategic planning and fundraising. His
wide experience includes collaboration and accompaniment of educational projects
with youth, women, and indigenous communities, as well as work in issues of
sustainable development, gender equity, conflict transformation, and social
justice.
Through his service with SEDEPAC (the
organization which coordinates the Mexico Summer Project with the American
Friends Service Committee) and through his relationship with the Casa, Roberto
has known the Quaker community for many years. He demonstrates a deep
commitment to the values of integrity, peace, justice, simplicity, and community
in all aspects of his life.
We are very pleased Roberto is part of
our community and will now be taking on this new role with the Casa. WELCOME,
Roberto!
We also wish to recognize the good work
of Bridget Moix, who during almost two years as director of the Casa contributed
enormously to renewing our peacework. Bridget leaves us to start a new stage of
life as a mother. We wish her all the best. Congratulations, Bridget!
We note the significance of this
leadership transition, which follows the deep renewal of the Casa de los Amigos
over the past three years, with new energy and new people - including a strong
and committed group of Mexican Friends, along with people from other countries -
to continue strengthening the organization and its mission. We are very happy to
share this news with the general public and friends of the Casa.
