Get Involved!

Want to plug into the Casa de los Amigos community?

Here are three ways to get involved with the Casa.

1. Keep up with Casa news, and attend some of the events and activities at the Casa de los Amigos.

The Casa has a rich schedule of regular and special events, from film nights, presentations and discussions on peace and social justice topics, Sunday potlucks, languange study groups, the Sunday Quaker Meeting for Worship, workshops, dinners, and the occasional field trip.  All events are free and open to the public!

By getting on our weekly email list, Lo Que Pasa en la Casa, you can stay up to date with news and events from the Casa.  You can read about news and events from the Casa online, or you can get it in your Inbox once a week by sending an email to loquepasaenlacasa@gmail.com and let us know you want to be on the list!  Please include your full name, and let us know where you’re from.

Visit the Casa! Take a tour! Have breakfast! The Casa de los Amigos is open from 8:00 am until 9:30 pm every day. You can always stop in during these hours to see what is happening this week, and to ask for a tour from the volunteer working in the reception.

Between 8:00 and 10:00 am, Monday through Saturday, Casa volunteers serve up a full breakfast of fruit, cereal, bread, tea, coffee, and eggs or pancakes, all for 25 pesos.  Everyone is invited to share the table.

2. Support the work of the Casa with a financial donation.

Your donations make the work of the Casa possible, and this year the Casa needs the concrete support of its entire community. In 2010 we are hiring new staff positions, making repairs to our historic building and improvements to our guest house. We are expanding the work of our Migration and Economic Justice Programs, including increasing the number of refugees and migrants that the Casa will house. And our Environmental Concerns Committee is taking steps to allow the Casa to walk more softly on the Earth.  We can do it, but we need your help! Your donations directly support these programs. You can now make a donation to the Casa online, by check or by direct deposit. Click here to make a donation and support the work of the Casa!

Please take a look at the Casa’s 2010 Big Wish List, and read about the many things that we need to do our work! We happily receive donations in kind and we are currently seeking a wide variety of items.

3. Consider the Casa Volunteer Program, or financially supporting a Casa volunteer.

The Casa depends on the service of different kinds of volunteers to carry out its programs and build a community of service and friendship.  If you are committed to the basic Quaker values of peace, justice, community, integrity and simplicity, and you want to work hard with others in a diverse community, the Casa volunter program is an amazing experience.

If you support the work of the Casa and its volunteers but are not able to commit to  service right now, consider making a financial donation to support a Casa volunteer.
